How far has this industry gone? How big is it? Is there really a future for us geeks in digital marketing? The answer to all these and many other similar questions became crystal clear over the couple of days we spent in Dublin representing Launch Online at Google Premier Partners Awards 2016.

It’s not just a few weirdos trying to convince everyone that this new thing called “the internet” is going to be the next big thing, It’s not just geeks playing with numbers anymore. Long gone are the days when you had to explain what AdWords is to your parents or prove to your friends that digital marketing is a real career when they’re comparing you to those buskers you see on every corner when you’re out and about in York.

Most of the time we’re completely buried in work and it proves difficult to stop for a second to think what are we doing and why are we doing it, but wow oh wow, Dublin made us think! It wasn’t only the extremely warm welcome at the hotel, it wasn’t only the delicious food we ate while getting to know other people with the same goals and everyday struggles, or the traditional Irish percussionists doing an amazing job at trying to get us all in sync after a few glasses of wine – gosh they were patient – it wasn’t the slightly hungover Yoga session we had to start the day – Google, maybe you’d like to take note for the next time and start a bit later?? It wasn’t even the entire day of inspiring talks which ended with a masterful presentation by Matt Ridley, and no, it definitely wasn’t the grand gala evening which was extremely fun and inspiring what made Dublin special.

But, if it wasn’t any of that? then what was it? Well, as I said at the beginning, the answer is pretty straightforward: You, me, us. We make this industry special, we push every platform to improve, we constantly think of new ways to measure, track, convert, optimise, improve, and ultimately make a real impact on our clients’ accounts. We’re responsible for millions upon millions of Euros and Pounds every year – money that’s not ours but trusted to us to grow our clients, and to grow ourselves.
145 agencies from all across EMEA were present in Dublin, but not just any 145 agencies, we were selected, we were recognised and identified as the top 145 agencies in the region. Google is the industry, yes! – but we are the community that keeps the industry alive and ever evolving and Google Premier Partners Awards 2016 was all about us – it was about Google giving back to us, for all our hard work, all our extra hours, our hunger to keep moving forward and to be better every day, for our clients and for us.
